In the middle of the city centre the Harzmensa is the meeting point for students of all courses. Next to it there is our hall of residence Harz, which will be ready-made to the end of 2011 to provide furnished rooms that will be perfect for international students to move in.

The house Harz 42-44 was built for the ''Schützengesellschaft Neumark'' in 1687. Since the reopening of the Martin-Luther University in 1946, the building has been serving as cafeteria. From the busy and popular Universitätsplatz it only takes 5 minutes to walk to the cafeteria, which also serves as the west border of the the Martin-Luther University's centre of humanities and social sciences that will be under construction from June 2011.

The listed house was refurbished carefully from 1999 to 2003 and a new, modern building with a highly-productive kitchen has been attached to it.

In the summer the park-like inner courtyard with the chestnut trees looks absolutely inviting.

Children are very welcome as well. On the basement floor we offer a special place for children to play. You can also find diaper changing tables and baby's high chairs. Students' children will be provided with the free meal deal (called ''Kinderteller'').

Our rooms are fitting for scientific or special events (consultations, conferences and so on) as well as artistic or private meetings. Therefore, we offer food and drinks that will be suitable for your specific needs.

We do not want to hide the special thing about our cafeteria from you: In all of our rooms you will find great pieces of art of students of the castle Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle.
