Guidelines on the application and allocation procedure for dormitories

1. Eligibility

1.1 Students who are enrolled at the universities listed below or who are already enrolled are eligible to apply.

The right to apply relates to the following universities:

  • Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg
  • Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle
  • Evangelische Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Halle
  • Anhalt University of Applied Sciences
  • Merseburg University of Applied Sciences.

1.2 Students from universities outside the area of ​​responsibility of the Studentenwerk Halle are eligible to apply within the framework of the bilateral exchange between the universities up to a maximum of six months.

2. Application, deadlines

Applications for the winter semester must be submitted by August 31 and for the summer semester by February 28 of the current year. Applications received later can only be considered within the scope of the reservations made in accordance with points 3.1 to 3.2 or possible still free places in the dormitory.

Applications are registered in a waiting list upon receipt.

3. Processing of applications, submission of offers

Housing offers are submitted by email according to the waiting list mentioned under point 2, considering social and study organization-related criteria in the order specified below, taking into account the agreements with the universities.

3.1 Quotas under the agreements with the universities

  • reservation of 10% of the free places at the beginning of the semester for program and exchange students by arrangement with the universities at the study location,
  • reservation of 10% of the free places at the beginning of the semester for students of the preparatory college by arrangement with the universities at the study location,
  • reservation of 10% of the vacancies for Numerus Clausus students at the beginning of the semester

3.2 Social and organizational criteria

  • severely disabled students and students with children
  • freshmen
  • applicants who start their master’s degree at the study location
  • students of higher semesters who have not yet taken up a place in a dormitory at the place of study as part of their training
  • international doctoral students
  • PhD students
  • applicants with a certificate of enrollment from universities outside the area of ​​responsibility of the Studentenwerk Halle as part of the bilateral exchange between the educational institutions and
  • applicants with their place of residence at the place of study and / or from the age of 30 will only receive a housing offer from the Studentenwerk Halle if the previously listed applicants are provided with housing. Applicants with their place of residence at the place of study must submit a certificate from the previous tenant before concluding a rental agreement.

When subbmitting the offer, the requests for accomodation will be taken into consideration according to the availability of free places. This will happen at the begining of the contract and according to the order of priorities given above.

If the desired accomodation preference is not possible to offer due to occupancy, another accomodation offer will be submited.

If the offer is denied by the applicant, the applicant can require another offer.

Failure to respond or failure to reply in time regarding the offer is treated as rejection by the applicant. The applicant is removed from the waiting list.

Data protection

Studentenwerk Halle and the company tl1 GmbH, which implements the online dormitory registration on behalf of the Studentenwerk Halle, are collecting personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 lit. , b GDPR for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures and in accordance with Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. c GDPR for the fulfillment of a legal obligation (see above statutory task according to StuWG) for the justification, update, implementation and termination of tenancies in the dormitories of the Studentenwerk Halle as well as for the rent elevation and withdrawal in accordance with § 2 Paragraph 1 No. 2 StuWG "Establishment, Operation, Maintenance and Mediation of Dormitory Places"
