As a student, you are generally not entitled to benefits fro the Sozialgeldgesetzbuch II (SGB II; i.e. unemployment benefit II, benefits for accommodation, heating, etc.). The maintenance during your education is to be paid by your parents. If your parents are not or not fully capable, the BAföG takes over this position entirely or partly.
This may vary if you, for example:
are on leave or
are sick for a longer periodd of time
hardship regulations apply or
you have the right to so-called additional requirements, e.g. during pregnancy or because you are a single parent.
Your social counseling will advise you on these and all other exceptions.
We're there for you in all questions concerning funding and student loans (BAföG), comfy accommodation in our dorms, healthy and affordable nutrition in our canteens/Mensen ... Join our online-meetings on the virtual information days of your (future) university or get in touch with us directly.
